PBS Wins 4 News & Documentary Emmys

PBS programs were honored with 14 News & Documentary Emmy Awards, more than any other organization, at the 37th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards presentation at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City on September 21.

On behalf of the entire PBS system, I congratulate the teams behind the PBS programs that were honored at the News & Documentary Emmy Awards, said Beth Hoppe, PBS Chief Programming Executive and General Manager, General Audience Programming, PBS. PBS and our member stations are committed to excellent journalism and powerful storytelling that educates, engages and inspires the American public. Tonight's awards reflect the kind of quality programming that we strive to distribute every single day.

Acclaimed PBS series FRONTLINE earned seven awards, more than any other individual series, followed by POV with two. POV's Cutie and the Boxer won Best Documentary.

PBS would also like to congratulate filmmaker Stanley Nelson on his Lifetime Achievement Award, presented at tonight's ceremony. Mr. Nelson was honored for his mastery of the craft of the documentary, particularly the historical documentary, and for his distinguished body of films exploring the many facets of the African American experience.
