2015 AICP Show Curatorial Committee Announced Matt Miller, President and CEO of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), and Kerstin Emhoff, Co-Founder/Executive Producer and the 2015 Chairperson of the AICP Show: The Art & Technique of the American Commercial, today announced the composition of the Show's Curatorial Committee. Emhoff will preside over The AICP Show and various elements of AICP Week, which includes its other tent pole event, the AICP Next Awards.
Having a system of over four hundred specialized crafts people judge the work, and then the amazing assembly of people curating the AICP Show sets the importance of this showcase apart from the pack, said Miller. Their perspective and expertise helps us to create a showcase worthy of inclusion in the film archives of The Museum of Modern Art.
It's a great honor to assemble such a distinguished group of talented people, said Emhoff. I'm looking forward to reviewing the hard work the judges have done, and seeing what rises to the top this year.
Under the direction of Emhoff and Miller, the Curatorial Committee is comprised of a diverse array of industry leaders, working in all disciplines that contribute to creating marketing in the motion image. The Curatorial Committee is part of a bifurcated judging system, which begins with a series of judging panels from across the country, with experts in various fields judging work across the 22 categories in the Show. The Curatorial Committee is the final arbiter in the disposition of the Show, confirming eligibility and appropriateness to category.
The 2015 Curatorial Committees
In addition to Emhoff and Miller, the Curatorial Committee comprises: Marlene Bartos, Managing Director/Executive Producer, Yessian; Kyle Brown, Editor, NO6; Mike Byrne, Founding Partner/Chief Creative Officer, Anomaly; Hilary Coate, Executive Producer, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners; Robert Fernandez, CEO, Moxie Pictures; Joanne Ferraro, Executive Producer, Spot Welders; Diane Jackson, EVP/Director Of Integrated Production, DDB Chicago; Kevin Jones, Executive Creative Director, Crispin Porter Bogusky; Kerry Keenan, Chief Creative Officer, Deutsch New York; Brian Latt, Partner/Executive Producer, m ss ng p eces; Desmond Marzette, Global Director of Marketing, Jordan Brand; Melina Matsoukas, Director, PRETTYBIRD; Matt Murphy, Partner/Group Creative Director, 72andSunnny; Michael Sagol, Managing Partner, Caviar; Joel Simon, CEO/Creative Director, JSM; Jerry Solomon, Managing Partner, Persuade Content; Rob Strasberg, Co-CEO/Chief Creative Officer, Doner; Rob Trent, Creative Director, The Mission Studio; Jakob Trollb ck, Chief Creative Officer, Trollback Company; Guillermo Vega, Executive Creative Director, 72andSunny; Morgan Visconti, Partner/Composer, Human; and Ari Weiss, Chief Creative Officer, BBH.
A separate panel judges the AICP Next Awards, under the aegis of Judging Chair Rob Reilly, Global Creative Chairman, McCann Worldgroup. The Jury Presidents of the eight AICP Next Awards categories are: Colleen DeCourcy, Co-Global Executive Creative Director, Wieden Kennedy (Social); Jennifer Golub, Executive Director of Content, MALForGood (Product Integration); Jeff Kling, Chief Creative Officer, Fallon (Viral/Web Film); Nick Law, Chief Creative Officer, R/GA (Experiential); Tor Myhren, Worldwide Chief Creative Officer, Grey (Integrated Campaign); Benjamin Palmer, Chairman, The Barbarian Group (Website/Microsite); Jaime Robinson, Executive Creative Director, Wieden Kennedy (Mobile); and David Rolfe, Director of Integrated Production, BBDO (Cause Marketing).
The AICP Next Awards celebrates the best ideas. Ones that define what's possible and showcase how brands connect with consumers on all the platforms, Reilly said.
AICP Week
AICP Week, which launched in 2013, is anchored by the premieres of the AICP Show and the AICP Next Awards, as well as educational seminars and events highlighting creativity and marketing.
The AICP Show, established in 1992, is the most important advertising showcase in the U.S. Each year, the best advertising appearing in the moving image is honored and made part of the archive of the Department of Film at MoMA. The AICP Next Awards, launched in 2007, highlights the winners of the eight Next categories, which honor innovative marketing communications. The AICP Next Awards are also archived at MoMA. The AICP Next Awards will debut on June 2nd at New York University's Skirball Theater, and the AICP Show premieres during a screening and gala at The Museum of Modern Art in New York on June 4th.
