Skeem Saam turns 10 this month! We are celebrating the show's anniversary throughout October, starting off with getting to know Vusi Leremi who plays the role of Clement Letsoalo.

Leremi's character is one of the most-talked-about characters on the show at the moment as he recently came out of the closet.

Leremi who's been with the show since he was 12 years old says he had a lot of time to prepare and talk to people who went through what Clement is going through.

They spoke to me about my role being gay in 2017, so it gave me time to prepare and talk to people who went through this.

to go gather my research and to better understand how it feels, he said.

He also states that it was challenging for him to add a new element to his character without changing who Clement was to viewers.

The actor said it was important for Skeem Saam to show people see how they're mistreating their children by making Mantuli (Dieketseng Mnisi) mistreat Clement on Skeem Saam.

Me, living in Soweto, I see it daily how a gay man and a lesbian are being mistreated by people in the community.

They are excluded by the community and no one wants to associate with them because they are gay. No, this is not right!

Vusi Leremi was born on 1 July 1999 in Soweto and currently lives in Johannesburg.

He joined Skeem Saam at the tender age of 12-years-old when he was in grade six.

He is heterosexual in real life and has a huge crush on Pearl Modiadie.

He was released from the show in 2011 when his character ran out of storylines.
