Mehr Kraft aus weniger Kraftstoff
Variable Ventiltriebsysteme sind ein ma gebliches Element zur Wirkungsgradsteigerung moderner Verbrennungsmotoren. Hier liefert Schaeffler eine Bandbreite verschiedener, auf Kundenanspr che ma geschneiderter Produkte bis hin zum weltweit ersten vollvariablen, elektrohydraulischen UniAir. Das bislang rund eine halbe Million mal ausgelieferte UniAir-System wird um Funktionen erweitert, die moderne Verbrennungsverfahren - wie Miller und Atkinson - erm glichen sowie eine komfortable Zylinderabschaltung erm glichen. Mit Serieneinf hrung der UniAir-Technologie begann vor f nf Jahren ein neues Zeitalter der Ventilsteuerung. Die vollvariable Ventilsteuerung setzt einen neuen Ma stab f r die Technik umweltfreundlicher und zugleich dynamischer Motoren. Und durch erweiterte Steuerungsstrategien k nnen unsere Kunden weitere Optimierungspotenziale erschlie en , beschreibt Schaeffler Automotive Vorstand Prof. Peter Pleus.
Neues gibt es auch in Sachen Zylinderabschaltung: K nftig sollen nicht mehr nur bestimmte Zylinder, sondern rollierend jeder einzelne Zylinder abgeschaltet werden k nnen. Parallel entwickelt Schaeffler sein umfangreiches Angebot von mechanischen Schaltelementen und Nockenwellen-Phasenverstellern weiter. Ein Beispiel daf r sind die serienfertigen elektromechanischen Nockenwellen-Phasenversteller.
Motorenentwickler k mpfen angesichts zunehmend strengerer CO2-Grenzwerte um jeden zehntel Liter Kraftstoffverbrauch. Dazu muss der Motor die chemische Energie des Kraftstoffs in jedem Betriebspunkt m glichst effizient in mechanische Bewegung umwandeln. Die Bet tigung der Ein- und Auslassventile spielt dabei eine Schl sselrolle. Ideal ist ein Ventiltrieb mit hohen Freiheitsgraden, bei dem sich Hub sowie ffnungszeitpunkt und -dauer und auch der Schlie zeitpunkt unabh ngig einstellen lassen , erl utert Dr. Martin Scheidt, der bei Schaeffler die Entwicklung von Motorsystemen verantwortet. Dadurch lassen sich die beim Einstr men der Luft entstehenden Ladungswechselverluste deutlich reduzieren. Zudem beeinflusst ein vollvariabler Ventiltrieb den Verbrennungsverlauf positiv.
Das seit 2009 in Gro serie bew hrte vollvariable Ventilsteuerungssystem UniAir ist daf r eine passende L sung. Es bietet maximale Variabilit t. Hier werden die Ventile nicht direkt von der Nockenwelle bet tigt, sondern ber einen dazwischen angeordneten elektrohydraulischen Versteller. Innerhalb der durch den Steuernocken vorgegebenen Maximalkontur kann das Ventil zu fast jedem Zeitpunkt variabel ge ffnet werden. Durch zwei Neuerungen lassen sich die Ventilhubverl ufe von Otto- und Dieselmotoren jetzt noch variabler zu gestalten: F r Ottomotoren f hrt Schaeffler optional einen zweistufigen Steuernocken ein. Aufgrund seiner stiefel hnlichen Form erm glicht dieser eine gro e Ventil berschneidung, bei der sich Einlass- und Auslassventil gleichzeitig ffnen lassen. So verbleibt Abgas im Brennraum. Und diese Form der inneren Abgasr ckf hrung senkt Schadstoff- und CO2-Emissionen gleicherma en. So l sst sich eine variable Restgaseinstellung auch ohne Einsatz eines Nockenwellenverstellers realisieren. F r den Einsatz im Dieselmotor sieht die L sung etwas anders aus, schlie lich ist der Platz zwischen Kolbenboden und Zylinderkopf im oberen Totpunkt beim Diesel zu gering f r eine gro e Ventil berschneidung. Die Schaeffler-Ingenieure setzen daher auf einen Doppelnocken f r den UniAir-Antrieb. Der zweite Nocken ist so versetzt angebracht, dass er das Einlassventil ausschlie lich bei ge ffnetem Auslassventil ansteuert. Auch dabei ist der Ventilhub innerhalb der Nockenkontur frei w hlbar.
Teil- und vollvariable Ventiltriebsysteme erm glichen auch die Abschaltung einzelner Zylinder w hrend der Fahrt. So l sst sich beispielsweise der Kraftstoffkonsum eines Vierzylinders durch zeitweiligen Zweizylinderbetrieb um bis zu sechs Prozent senken. Diese Zylinderabschaltung wird besonders bei konstanter Fahrt im mittleren Geschwindigkeitsbereich bei gleichzeitig geringer Motorlast angewandt. F r die Deaktivierung bestimmter Zylinder kommen meist hydraulisch schaltbare Ventiltriebkomponenten zum Einsatz. K nftig l sst sich dank UniAir auch eine rollierende Zylinderabschaltung ausf hren, bei der jeder Zylinder reihum stillgelegt werden kann. Das hat den Vorteil, dass die deaktivierten Zylinder nicht ausk hlen. Und dadurch l sst sich dieses System nach einem Kaltstart schneller aktivieren.
Untersuchungen von Schaeffler zeigen, dass die umlaufende Abschaltung besonders bei Dreizylindermotoren seine St rken ausspielen kann. ber l ngere Zeit einen von drei Zylindern stillzulegen w rde zu inakzeptablem Schwingungsverhalten f hren. Durch die rollierende Abschaltung - die letztlich einen 1,5-Zylinder-Betrieb zur Folge hat - verschieben sich jedoch die Schwingungsfrequenzen in einen Bereich, der sich zum Beispiel mit einem Zweimassenschwungrad und Fliehkraftpendel gut beherrschen l sst.
Die Variabilit t erh lt mehr und mehr Einzug ins Automobil. Den technischen Einstieg markieren Nockenwellen-Phasenversteller, die zunehmend zur Standardausr stung neuer Motoren avancieren. Sie steuern zwar nicht den Ventilhub, aber der ffnungszeitpunkt der Ventile l sst sich der Motordrehzahl und dem Leistungswunsch des Fahrers anpassen. Die Verstellung der Steuerzeiten erfolgt heute berwiegend hydraulisch. Aber auch auf diesem Sektor h rt der Fortschritt niemals auf. So bringt Schaeffler in K rze einen elektromechanischen Phasensteller in Serie. Die elektromechanische Nockenwellenverstellung bietet viele Vorteile: Exaktheit und Geschwindigkeit der Verstellung steigen und die Steuerzeit beim Motorstart l sst sich frei w hlen. Das ist eine wichtige Option f r die zunehmende Zahl von Motor-Start
