Canon introduces improvements in seven of their professional cameras The new firmware for the EOS C700, EOS C100, EOS C100 Mark II, XC15, XC10, ME20F-SH and SH-ME200S brings improvements such as new recording options and workflow improvements.

Canon announced coinciding with NAB 2017 a series of firmware updates for seven of their professional cameras, the C700 EOS, EOS C100, EOS C100 Mark II, XC15, XC10, ME20F-SH and SH-ME200S.

The new firmware bring significant improvements, including additional recording options, improved workflows, correction of objectives and ease of use.

New updates for the EOS C700 add extra recording modes when using the CODEX CDX-36150, including the 4 K/QFHD ProRes, 4, 5 K up to 100 fps, 4, 5 K cinescope at 120 fps, 422 HQ, 10-bit and 60 fps, 2K, and many more. The new update also has an option to update the firmware on the recorder CODEX CDX-36150 RAW.

Updates for the EOS C100 and C100 DAF make possible the use of data for the correction of the lighting of the peripheral, including the objectives EF 35 mm f/1, 4L II USM, EF 50 mm f/1.8 STM, EF-S 18-135 mm f/3, 5-5 and 6 IS USM and the EF 24 - 105 mm f/1, 4 L IS II USM. The new firmware provides compatibility with the objectives cine-servo CN 7 17 KAS S *, the CN-E 18-80 mm T/4.4 L IS KAS S * and the CN20 x 50 IAS.

As for the update for EOS C100 Mark II includes a priority mode to the angle of seal, which keeps the shutter angle when changing the speed in frames per second. The update also enables data from correction of peripheral lighting for the new lens EF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM II.

In reference to the Canon XC10 and XC15 now shall be compatible with the standard VPG130 (Video Performance Guarantee 130) for CFast cards.

The new firmware for the Canon ME20F-SH and SH-ME200S has new automatic exposure modes, including priority to the shutter (Tv), priority (Av) opening and automatic gain Control (AGC). Users can also select between automatic or Manual of the filter neutral density (ND).

Compatibility of the objectives cine-servo has been expanded into the ME20F-SH so that it covers the CN-E 18-80 mm T/4.4 L IS KAS S, as well as the EF 100 - 400 mm f/4, 5-5, 6 L IS II USM, EF 35 mm f/1. 4 L II USM and EF 24-105 mm f / 4 L IS II USM, which are now also compatible with the ME20F-SH and the ME200S-SH. Canon has added a new adjustment to CP Fine Tuning (fine adjustment of the CP) menu to help with improved image quality when using the Chroma system key. Finally, the SH-ME20F and ME200S-SH will have now improved (WB) white balance settings when the camera is set to Auto and the 25PsF option has been added to allow a connection to a monitor and view the images after they have been recorded at 25 p.
