The start of the new 2014 MotoGP season gets under way with the first race taking place under the floodlights in Qatar. Repsol Honda teams, Marc Marquez clinches a win after an exhilarating last lap battle with Movistar Yamaha teams Valentino Rossi.
"It was a great battle, but I enjoyed it a little bit less than him [Marquez] because I finished behind!", joked Rossi."It was great and my race was fun, starting from the fourth row was very risky but I did all the right overtakes and it was great when I got to the front. I was very happy and the bike was good. I had the potential to fight with Marc, but he was stronger than me." *
This year MotoGP were joined by three new broadcasters BT Sport, Sky Italia and Telefonica Movistar, Telefonica Movistar also being the new sponsor of team Yamaha carrying Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. The first race marks a new record for Vislink for having 23 live RF links (the most ever used) over the weekend. In the pit lane RF camera men employed a combination of Gigawaves Sony Incam-S, Clip-on Transmitters and also the latest ultra-lightweight DR-07 Camera Control Data Receivers to provide remote camera control. Hand-Held Receivers were used for video return allowing the commentators to view their live pictures as a confidence check. With incredible On-Board and Helicopter footage streamed via Gigawave Transmitters, the viewer is brought even closer to the action. MVL-HD2 DVB-S2 Point-to-Point microwave link was used by beIN Sports (part of Al Jazeera) to transmit the program live back to Doha from the circuit.
