Imagine Communications It will be exhibiting at NAB 2017 with its compression platform multipurpose selenium One XC. This version only the popular selenium software is optimized both for primary distribution and secondary, enabling content owners and video service providers improve operational efficiencies by delivering more channels on existing distribution infrastructures.
The solution, powered by Zenium, microservices imagine-based technology that allows the development of flexible and modular platforms, it can be implemented with an optional stat mux to allow media companies to maximize video quality and bandwidth efficiency. Native nature of selenium One XC, unique software, also provides the ability to support both modules of both local and cloud deployment or a mixture of the two, as well as to take advantage of the flexibility of adaptation on-demand computing platforms Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS).
David Heppe, Vice President of distribution at Imagine, product management highlights that "with the introduction of XC, the new offer of selenium platform One, Imagine Communications is validating their commitment to reduce complexity and general operating expenses, providing a unique and versatile platform producers and content distributors to handle virtually all its processes of compression and processing needs." XC software, which provides a market-leading deployment flexibility and exceptional video quality, complements the previously released one selenium configurations".
One Selenium is one of the first platforms released under the initiative of Imagine to enable media companies to adopt the technology in modular way, aiming to reduce the complexity and increase the integration through workflow and traditional operational divisions within a media installation. One selenium can be deployed in physical form to optimize the density, quality and cost, with all the elements selenium One controlled by a common user interface that will improve operational efficiency.
The new selenium One XC is initially aimed to provide video service providers a high video quality and highly efficient linear transcoding capabilities. It can run in virtual machines based on Linux, which makes it drop-down in a variety of cloud and data center environments. Supports transcoding H.264 / MPEG-2 to H.264 / MPEG-2 based on IP and can be paired with a multiplexer optional to provide statistical multiplexing of conservation of bandwidth of expensive distribution channels or limitation of bandwidth. the new solution is already prepared to support adaptive bit rate (ABR) technology for Over-the-Top (OTT) distribution operations.
Zenium technology
All configurations of selenium One share a set of common management, allowing all functions of encoding, transcoding and processing are controlled and managed through a single solution and interface. Thanks to Zenium, selenium One systems share a common technology base and used the same base of code for common functions. Flexible and modular software Zenium frame allows you to add new features, such as future formats, all configurations based on Zenium as they develop. Characteristics can be shared across different configurations within the Selenium One platform or other solutions based on the portfolio of Imagine Zenium.
In addition to sharing technology, Zenium supports a model "plug-n-play" enabling the rapid integration of new technologies and of third parties, as the most recent and powerful industry codecs. The flexibility and extensibility of Zenium allow media companies to easily optimize compression through multiple applications. Supporting a model of top-quality technology, Zenium offers significant advantages in terms of performance and speed to market on platforms that depend on proprietary codecs.
Selenium One XO
The launch in January of selenium One XO marked the debut of the Selenium One platform. Selenium One XO focuses on helping media companies generate new revenue and maximize the efficiency of their networks through a more effective distribution of high quality video and linear channels Apr. XO One selenium, together with a powerful graphics processing (GPU) unit, supports encoding HEVC / H.265 and AVC / H.264 transcoding Apr formats and linear in extremely high densities, allowing media companies to save space and costs. The product is capable of supporting up to 720 profiles APR or 360 HD linear channels in a Server 4.3 RU. It is also available in a rack-unit format.
