Government Communication Forum 0 Opens Online Registration

Sharjah Media Centre, the media and communication arm of the Government of Sharjah, today announced its online registration for the second edition of the Government Communication Forum (GCF 2013) on the event's dedicated portal (www.gcf.ae).

Registered delegates, institutions and individuals will be granted access to the forum and its sessions, which include panel discussions, workshops, keynote speeches and live interviews. While registration will continue to remain open during the forum, pre-registration for participation in the workshop is mandatory and must be completed before February 20, 2013. Registered delegates will be permitted to attend more than one workshop. However, seats are limited and will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

GCF 2013 will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Scheduled to take place from February 24-25 at the Expo Centre Sharjah, the event will revolve around its core theme Effective CommunicationUnified Message'.

Workshops at GCF 2013 are designed to equip professionals from the media and communication sections of private and government institutions, as well as public relations specialists, media persons and students with a keen understanding of the communication mandate.

Osama Samra, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said: The event comes in response to the strategic shifts in the world in general and the Arab region in particular. This year, the forum will identify best practices to improve and develop new mechanisms in communication between governments and their people. Additionally, the event seeks to enhance the performance of employees in the communication divisions of government institutions. Towards this end, the event will draw out the perspectives of high-profile thought leaders, representatives from the public sector, communication experts, and prominent national, regional and global media persons.

Samra added: The workshops will be organized in collaboration with twofour54 to ensure the compatibility of content with the UAE government's approach and engages the active involvement of the participants. In addition to the workshops, breakout sessions will be hosted to ensure that all attendees benefit from the deliberations.

GCF 2013 will primarily address the need to develop a reliable platform for dialogue and information exchange on challenges and best practices in government communication within Sharjah, as well as the wider UAE, the region and beyond.
