Filmmaker Alex Ross Perry and star Jason Schwartzman will be at both the IFC Center and Film Society of Lincoln Center at select screenings (with special guest moderators!) all weekend long.
After its successful New York premiere at this year's New York Film Festival, Listen Up Philip is coming to both the IFC Center and Film Society of Lincoln Center this Friday, October 17! Written and directed by Alex Ross Perry (The Color Wheel), the film follows Philip Lewis Friedman (a knockout performance by Jason Schwartzman), a successful writer who becomes disillusioned when his follow-up novel fizzles with audiences and critics alike. In turmoil, Philip decides to leave the literary scene, his successful photographer girlfriend Ashley (Elisabeth Moss), and the city itself for the refuge of his mentor Ike Zimmerman's (Jonathan Pryce) country home to reevaluate his life and his future.
To celebrate the film's New York opening, Alex Ross Perry and Jason Schwartzman will be bouncing back and forth from the West Village to the Upper West Side all weekend long. At the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Perry and Schwartzman will be in attendance at the 6:25PM screenings of Listen Up Philip on Friday and Saturday with special guest moderators (Novelist Sam Lipsyte on Friday and Filmmaker Paul Schrader on Saturday!). At the IFC Center, the duo will do Q&As at the 7:50PM show on Friday and the 5:25PM (with special guest moderator Jenny Slate) and 7:50PM shows on Saturday. They will introduce both 10:10PM shows on Friday and Saturday.
If you are as eager to see Listen Up Philip as we are to show you the film, you're in luck. Both theaters will have special sneak previews on Thursday, October 16 (7:00PM at IFC Center and 8:00PM at Film Society) with both Perry and Schwartzman present for Q&As.
