Online voting opens for Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards --

The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards have announced that online voting for nominations is now available through its website. The awards, which are taking place on 14 February 2015 at Paramount Studios Theatre in Hollywood, honour outstanding achievements by make-up artists and hair stylists in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theatre.
The deadline for voting is 17h00 (PT) on 6 January 2015 and voting is only open to active and active retired members in good standing.
The Artisan Award will be given in over 15 different categories, along with one Lifetime Achievement award in each discipline, and a special award for an actor or actress who was a distinguished creative partner in the process. In 2014 Academy Award-winning make-up artist Dick Smith (Taxi Driver, The Exorcist) was given the Lifetime Achievement Award in Make-Up while Emmy-nominated hair stylist Gail Ryan (21 Grams, Taken) received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Hair Styling, and Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice in Wonderland) received the Distinguished Artisan Award for his collaboration in creating iconic characters in film.
Nominees in six categories will be announced on 8 January 2015. These categories are: Best Contemporary Make-Up, Best Period and/or Character Make-Up, Best Special Make-Up Effects, Best Contemporary Hair Styling and Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling. In addition, Oscar-winning make-up artist Rick Baker and Emmy-nominated hair stylist Kathryn Blondell have been selected to receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.
