Umkhokha: The Curse star actor Mbuso Khoza's farewell left fans in tears this week.

Fans knew Mbuso best as a musician and his appearance in the drama series surprised some.

Some believed he would not be able to nail the role of Maphalala, but he surprised all and sundry.

After just a few episodes, he was already among the show's most loved actors.

On Umkhokha: The Curse, Mbuso contributed both as an actor and behind the soundtrack.

I keep getting messages about my role as Maphalala almost every day; I thought I should make it easier for everyone following my work; like any other job, you get a contract for a certain period. This is to say the contract I signed has ended, and it has been a great journey for my growth as an artist, he said.

I'm grateful to Dr Duma Ndlovu for such an astounding opportunity in my wildest dreams. I never imagined myself being on TV, especially acting. With that being said, I felt it's important I take a moment and engage you on this. he continued.

I'm looking forward to new opportunities as I remain grateful and hardworking he finished.
