Three suspected hijackers shot dead during a police chase in Gauteng

A group of hijackers who were on the police's radar met a gruesome end on Monday afternoon, after their bid to escape the authorities was brought to a fatal conclusion. All three suspects accused of stealing a car from Kempton Park, Gauteng two weeks ago were pronounced dead at the scene. Anti-crime advocate Yusuf Abramjee shared the news online:

Their refusal to stop saw the situation escalate dramatically, and as they were endangering multiple lives with their reckless driving, the cops were forced into a very difficult decision.

Netcare911 were the first emergency responders on the scene, and nothing could be done for the getaway drivers.

Three alleged hijackers were shot dead by police members on Monday afternoon on Old Pretoria Road at the intersection with the R25. Police were chasing the suspects, who were allegedly driving a car stolen in Kempton Park two weeks ago. The intersection was still an active crime scene and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Blue Security operations director Brian Jackson says that hijackers are now more likely to abduct the driver, rather than force them out of their own car. Although this act itself isn't new, Jackson says his firm have encountered a spike in this technique since January.
