Voting is 50% by the public and 50% by MOBO's Panel Of Specialists, except for Best Grime and Best Album.
The MOBO Awards have a new broadcast home, as ITV starts a three-year partnership to broadcast the ceremony on the UKs biggest digital channel ITV2 at 8pm on Wednesday 22 October, - with a highlights show later on ITV at 10.40pm.
This years ceremony will be hosted by Mel B and Sarah-Jane Crawford and will take place on 22 October from The SSE Arena, Wembley. It celebrates the best and brightest new talent in the UK's thriving urban music scene, alongside more established UK and international names. Performances on the night include Professor Green, Krept & Konan and MNEK feat. Gorgon City.
This years crop of multiple nominees once again asserts the MOBO Awards position as a leader in spotting emerging talent. Krept & Konan is up for four awards including Best Male, Best Hip Hop, Best Album for Young Kingz and Best Song for Dont Waste My TIme. Sam Smith has also been nominated for four awards, including Best Male, Best R&B/Soul, Best Album for In The Lonely Hour and Best Song for his UK No. 1 hit Stay With Me. And Fuse ODG, Ghetts, Meridian Dan and Tinie Tempah all received three nominations for awards in several categories.
FKA Twigs is up for three awards including Best Female, Best Newcomer and Best Video for Two Weeks. And Katy B and Marsha Ambrosius also each received two nominations.
The MOBOs have been a catalyst in the careers of numerous UK artists, including Craig David, Ms Dynamite, Estelle, N-Dubz, Amy Winehouse, Emeli Sand and Rita Ora who all went on to achieve great success after having been given a first platform by MOBO or having won the Best Newcomer Award.
