Popular Skeem Saam, House of Zwide, Scandal! and Gomora actors have bagged roles in Mzansi Magic's upcoming drama series Kokota.

BACKGROUND OF KOKOTA' Skeem Saam fans will be thrilled to know that their favourite actor Molefi Monaisa, who portrayed the role of Wallet has secured a role in Kokota alongside Scandal! star Bathabile Mashigo who played Grace.

Other popular actors who will debut on the series include Gomora actress Leera Mthethwa, who is known for playing Jackie Hlongwane, Skeem Saam actor Thabang Lefoa who plays Sphola, House of Zwide actor Thato Dithebe, who portrays the role of Neo and more.

DStv reports that Kokota is an Amapiano drama about dreams that demand to be followed, no matter the cost and will premiere on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) from Sunday, 10 September.

The show is set in Mamelodi, Soweto, Johannesburg and tells the story of preacher's son Tshepang (Thato Dithebe), whose passion for music is as necessary as breathing. Tshepang decides to surf the irresistible Amapiano wave, despite his parents believing he is bringing shame to the family and church name.

The 30-minute drama series will occupy the 20:00 slot when Shaka Ilembe ends on Sunday, 3 September.

SKEEM SAAM' STAR MOLEFI MONAISA AS WALLET The Kokota actor Molefi Monaisa, who is famously known as Wallet on Skeem Saam hasn't appeared in the educational soapie since December 2021.

The fan-favourite character, Wallet recites poetry on the hills on Turfloop, loves drinking tea, carries his briefcase everywhere and nails his British accent to perfection.

Monaisa says his character was as a writer, actor and director in his past life, who's been all over the world and spent about eight or nine years in England and was a native there in his mind.

TVSA reports that the actor has also played roles as:

Smokey on SABC2's sitcom Ga Re Dumele from season three to six;

Daniel Phute in a show called One Way for two seasons;

A royal healer in season one of The Throne and a judge to Jo Seseane in season one of Thola;

Siya in Lockdown season five; and

Tommy Hillfigga Ditheko in Hillside season two.
